Role Overview

Senior consultant role providing comprehensive evidence-based forensic psychiatry care within SEHA.

Responsibilities

Lead and supervise evidence-based specialist care; examine patients, take detailed histories, order and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe medicines and therapies, and develop comprehensive treatment plans for inpatient and outpatient cases. Lead ward rounds, review investigation results and adjust treatment, coordinate multidisciplinary care and referrals, supervise and train junior medical staff, participate in rotational on-call coverage, maintain timely clinical documentation, follow SEHA and Department of Health policies including infection-control and patient-safety requirements, and contribute to audit, peer review, risk management, quality improvement, research and continuing medical education.

Requirements and Qualifications

Medical degree, psychiatry residency plus forensic-psychiatry fellowship/subspecialty training, recognised board certification such as MRCPsych/ABPN/CCT or equivalent, valid/eligible DOH licence, and about 3–5 years of post-specialisation experience. Trauma-informed care, developmental psychiatry and psychopharmacology knowledge are expected; Arabic is an advantage.
